Premier League Matchday 12 is upon us and we are quickly moving towards the most intense period of the season for all the clubs. We take a look at the top six teams in the Premier League as we await Sunday's top of the table clash between Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield.

Premier League standings: 6th. Sheffield United - 16 points

Sheffield United have massively exceeded expectations this season. Chris Wilder's men lie 6th on the Premier League table ahead of the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hostpur. Although they are unbeaten in their last four games, they will face a tough task when they visit London to take on the Spurs.

Premier League standings: 5th. Arsenal - 17 points

Arsenal are fifth on the table with just a point more than Sheffield. Unai Emery has been under immense pressure in the last few weeks after his side's failure to win any of their last four fixtures. Their leaky defence has already seen them lagging behind in the race for a top-four finish. They visit the King Power Stadium to face an in-form Leicester City and with all the issues surrounding Granit Xhaka, it's going to be another test for the Gunners.

Premier League standings: 4th. Chelsea - 23 points

Fourth-placed Chelsea are 6 points ahead of Arsenal and have been in fine form recently. They have just lost once in their last 10 games in all competitions and are looking like they are finally hitting top form under manager Frank Lampard. They made a dramatic comeback against Ajax in the Champions League and will host a resilient Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Premier League standings: 3rd. Leicester City - 23 points

Leicester City are playing like a well-oiled machine under Brendan Rodgers and are genuine contenders for a top-four finish. Jamie Vardy, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and even new signing Ayoze Perez have all been in good form in recent weeks. Though Arsenal sounds like a tough fixture on paper, Leceister will be confident they can get a positive result on Saturday by exploiting the Gunners fragile backline.

Premier League standings: 2nd. Manchester City - 25 points

Injuries have kind-off derailed Manchester City's Premier League campaign with already two defeats in 11 games. They have bounced back well though after their defeat to Wolves on October 6 and Pep Guardiola will be desperately looking cut the deficit when his side face Liverpool on Sunday.

Premier League standings: 1st. Liverpool - 31 points

Liverpool show no signs of stopping this season and despite some jittery games off late, they have been churning results week in and week out. The real test, however, awaits on Sunday when City visit Anfield, which is touted by many as a potential title decider.
