Marcus Rashford's open-goal miss against Brighton on Sunday has sparked some hysterical reactions by fans on Twitter. His shocker has been hilariously credited with ‘miss of the season’ after he put the ball wide off the goal during United's 3-1 win on Matchday 12 of the Premier League.

Premier League: Marcus Rashford wins it for United

Manchester United displayed some of their best attacking display against Brighton on Sunday in a dominating 3-1 win over Brighton. Andreas Pereira opened the scoring for United in the 19th minute after his deflected effort beat Brighton goalkeeper Mathew Ryan. And only two minutes later, Davy Propper put the ball into the back of his own net as he attempted to stop Scott McTominay from scoring. Lewis Dunk scored for the visitors in the second half only for Marcus Rashford to restore United's two-goal advantage.

Marcus Rashford then hilariously misses a sitter

Marcus Rashford looked set to double his tally after Daniel James charged into Brighton's half and delivered the ball into the box. With the goalkeeper out of position and the defender down on the floor, it should have been a simple tap in. But the 22-year-old missed the open goal from close range. Thankfully, it did not prove to be costly as Manchester United went on to win the match comfortably by 3-1 at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford's shocker: Premier League miss of the season?

The England international, who won United's Goal of the Month award in October was left with his head in his hands after the miss. And the fans were quick to label the miss with some hysterical tweets.
