Sushanth Matthew, who began his career in Indian football with FC Kochin in 1997, recently announced his decision to hang up his boots. The player has retired from professional football. The defensive midfielder has represented the likes of East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, and other I-League teams during his playing days. However, one iconic moment that he will always be remembered for is the goal he scored against Chennaiyin FC during ISL 2014-15.

Having entered the semi-final clash against Chennaiyin FC as underdogs, Kerala made their way to a shock 2-0 lead in the first-half itself. However, the best was yet to come as Sushanth Matthew scored a 'worldie' in the dying minutes of the game to hand Kerala a three-goal advantage at the end of the first leg. Matthew scored a long-range effort beating the likes of legends like Mikael Silvestre and Alessandro Nesta to find the back of the net. Many regard that iconic strike as one of the best goals to have ever been scored in the Hero Indian Super League.
