Arsenal triumphed over Standard Liege 4-0 in their UEFA Europa League match on Thursday, October 3. The game was held at Emirates Stadium, London. With this win, Arsenal maintained a perfect start to their Europa League campaign. Gabriel Martinelli tore through Standard Liege's defence. The 18-year-old central striker joined Arsenal earlier this summer. He previously scored two goals in their match against Nottingham Forest last week.

Unai Emery made 10 changes to the team after their 1-1 Premier League tie with Machester United. This was Arsenal's second consecutive victory in the Europa League, the first one being their 3-0 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt. The Gunners proved to be too fast for Standard Liege, according to their manager Michel Preud’homme in a post-match interview. Along with their tempo, Arsenal were also quick in establishing a lead.

Arsenal scored three goals within the opening 22 minutes. Martinelli scored his first goal on the 13-minute with a perfectly-timed header from Kieran Tierney’s near-post cross. His second one was practically from an identical spot, this time through a composed right-foot finish. The Brazilian striker became the youngest to score two goals in a major European match for Arsenal. At the 22nd minute, Joe Willock scored a goal, giving Arsenal a comfortable 3-0 lead over Standard Liege. The last one was Dani Ceballos' goal at the 57th minute, with an assist from Martinelli. It was his first goal after coming from Real Madrid on loan. If not for Vanja Milinkovic's second-half saves, Arsenal would have scored more.
