Pre-season games are primarily about building up fitness, but they can also present a fantastic opportunity for young players to impress their managers and gain some more playing time before the real action gets underway.

Emile Smith Rowe, who is part of the Arsenal youth ranks, is certainly doing everything in his power to grab the attention of his manger, Unai Emery. The youngster, who currently is on the pre-season tour squad, featured in Arsenal's International Champions Cup encounter against Atletico Madrid. The 17-year old capped his debut for the senior team with an impressive display, scoring a stunning goal in the Gunners' 1-1 draw against the Spanish club.

The youngster couldn't have asked for a better way to announce his arrival to the senior team. The midfielder skipped past two challenges before unleashing a cracking strike from the edge of the the box. Here's a video of that golazo by the Arsenal teen:


The 17-year-old is no stranger to headlines, as he was part of the England squad that triumphed during the FIFA U-17 World Cup that was held in India last October. Speaking to reporters after his stunning strike, he insisted his wonder-goal had surpassed the feeling of winning the World Cup.

It is believed that the attacking midfielder possess immense close control and has the ability to unlock defences and assist team-mates as well as scoring dazzling individual goals. He grabbed the eyeballs of the Arsenal faithful after his stunning display during the Arsenal U-23's FA Cup win. He scored brilliant free-kick and earned a penalty, guiding the North London side into the quarterfinals of the competition.



The youngster is widely regarded as one of the most exciting prospects at the club, with clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur linked to the midfielder. However, the 17 year-old who chose to stay at the club since the age of nine has steadily made his way up the ranks. And at the rate that he's going, Emile Smith Rowe is destined for success.
