The football world was stunned when it was revealed that legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson had undergone a surgery for brain hemorrhage earlier this year in May. 'The gaffer', as he was widely called, was admitted to Macclesfield district hospital in Cheshire, England on Thursday after his friends complained of his deteriorating health. There was sense of fear amongst his fans.

But in June, it was confirmed that he had successfully recovered, and had left the hospital since. Now, a month and a half after recovering, he has thanked his well-wishers and all the hospital staff for his recovery. In a video published by Manchester United on Twitter, Sir Alex could be heard as saying, "Hello just a quick message, first of all to thank the medical staff at Macclesfield, Salford Royal and Alexandra hospitals.

"Believe me, without those people, who gave me such great care, I would not be sitting here today. So thank you from me and my family. Thank you very much. It has made me feel so humble, as all the messages I have had from all over the world wishing me the best and the good wishes do resonate very, very strongly with me, so thank you for that support you have given me. Lastly I'll be back later in the season to watch the team. In the meantime, all the best to Jose and the players. Thank you very much."

Sir Alex is the most successful manager in the history of English Premier League (EPL), winning the title on 13 occasions between 1993 and 2013. The 76-year-old Scottish manager, who took charge of Manchester United in 1986, led the Red Devils to over 30 trophies during his 20-year-old tenure. He also led Manchester United to five FA Cup victories. He was also voted "Manager of the Season" 11 times.

Fergie called time on his managerial career at the end of 2012/13 season, after guiding United to their 20th league title. Since then, he has been a regular visitor during their matches, both at home and away. He last watched United play against Arsenal, where he presented a trophy to former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who was to leave his club after 22 years in charge.
