Manchester United had finally returned to winning ways courtesy of a 2-1 home win against Everton. However, it wasn't their victory that had made the headlines, but it was Paul Pogba's awfully slow run-up before his penalty that has become the talk of the town.
Paul Pogba loves to be the center of all attention whenever he's on the football pitch and was rightfully the catalyst behind the Red Devils' home win, bagging an assist and goal against Everton.
The Frenchman is Manchester United's designated penalty taker, and on Sunday his penalty technique almost backfired when Jordan Pickford guessed the direction of the shot and saved it. Luckily, the ball rebounded off the post and feel straight at Pogba who prodded home the opener.
While Pogba might have saved himself from some embarrassment, there are some fans who have seemed to find the funny side to it. In a viral video, a user has compared Paul Pogba's penalty run-up to Usain Bolt's 100-meter sprint. And it turns out the Jamaican sprint legend took lesser time than Pogba took to hit the penalty.
Usain Bolt holds the record for having clocked the fastest time of 9.58 seconds in the 100m event. Interestingly, even his slower time of 9.81 secs at the 2016 Rio Olympics where he clinched gold, is still faster than Paul Pogba's penalty run-up.
However, Manchester United boss was least pleased with the midfielder's penalty technique and suggested in the post-match conference that Pogba should consider changing his approach.
“I like the player that say, ‘I want to take it.’ But Paul, can he improve? I think he can. Maybe he has to change his approach, but I don’t want him to change his mental approach.
“The goalkeepers know his running up style, they don’t move and they are waiting for his decision, so he has to learn from that. But, for me, the most important thing is he wants to go again.”
