Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said that Brazilian duo Ederson and Gabriel Jesus told him "they can play" against Belgium side Club Brugge in UEFA Champions League Group A on Tuesday.

Ederson and Jesus flew directly to Belgium after they represented their national team in a FIFA World Cup CONMEBOL qualifier against Uruguay in Manaus on Thursday, and so both players missed Saturday's 2-0 English Premier League victory over Burnley.

Both players were due to undergo a 10-day bespoke quarantine on their return to England having travelled with the 'Selecao' to red-list countries Venezuela and Colombia earlier in the international break.

But they will now avoid that requirement by staying in Belgium and preparing for Tuesday's match against Brugge, before returning to Manchester during the week.
