PKL 2019: Key moments from the semi-finals between the top-four

PKL 2019 semi-finals took place on Wednesday, October 16 at the EKA Arena by TransStadia, Ahmedabad. Dabang Delhi KC and Bengal Warriors advanced to the finals.

PKL 2019 semi-finals took place on Wednesday, October 16 at the EKA Arena by TransStadia in Ahmedabad. Dabang Delhi KC defeated Bengaluru Bulls in the semi-final 1 (44-38), while Bengal Warriors triumphed over U Mumba (35-37) in the semi-final 2. This will be Dabang Delhi KC's maiden appearance in a PKL final. Both teams were also the table-toppers for PKL 2019. The final is scheduled for EKA Arena by TransStadia, Ahmedabad.

PKL 2019 semi-finals: Dabang Delhi KC vs Bengaluru Bulls

Bengaluru Bulls had made it to the semi-finals after a 48-45 tie-breaker against UP Yoddha. Pawan Kumar Sehrawat, who had single-handedly led his team to the semi-finals, tried his best to overtake Dabang Delhi KC. Bengaluru Bulls had a weak defence in the first half, earning only two points after Saurabh Nandal's Super Tackle. On the other hand, Dabang Delhi KC delivered on both sides, scoring 15 tackle points and 23 raid points. Bengaluru Bulls scored 28 raid points, but only six tackle points.  

Dabang Delhi KC vs Bengaluru Bulls – Key moments

  • Naveen Kumar completed his 21st Super 10 of the season.
  • Dabang Delhi KC inflicted an all-out after Rohit Kumar's unsuccessful raid with over 16 minutes remaining to the first half.
  • Pawan Sehrawat's Super Raid in the first half took out Vishal Mane and Joginder Narwal.
  • Mahender Singh Super Tackled Naveen Kumar in the second half, reducing the score difference. 
  • Naveen Kumar inflicted an all-out on Bengaluru Bulls with only four minutes left on the clock, giving Delhi a 41-32 lead.

 PKL 2019 semi-finals: Bengal Warriors vs U Mumba

Despite U Mumba's massive comeback in the second half, Bengal Warriors won the game with a two-point lead. Even though U Mumba scored raid more points, the raiders were self-out four times during the first half. U Mumba had a total of 23 raid points and eight tackle points compared to Bengal Warriors' 18 raid points and ten tackle points. Bengal Warriors' defence came through, taking points when necessary.

Bengal Warriors vs U Mumba – Key moments

  • Bengal Warriors inflicted an all-out on U Mumba with six minutes left to go for the first half, giving themselves a 14-10 lead.
  • Sukesh Hegde's Super Raid sent Fazel Atrachali, Surinder Singh, Ajinkya Kapre and Young Chang Ko to the bench and further established Bengal Warriors' advantage.
  • Ajinkya Kapre's four-point Super Raid in the second half brought U Mumba back into the game with only five minutes left to go.
  • Arjun Deshwal was tackled by Rinku Narwal in the last raid which gave Bengal the two-point win.
