PKL 2019 top defenders: Fazel Atrachali, Sumit, Nitesh Kumar and more

Fazel Atrachali, Sumit, Nitesh Kumar, Sandeep Kumar Dhull and Baldev Singh are the top five defenders for the PKL 2019 season. Let us take a look at their stats

The PKL 2019 season was packed with record breaks and milestones. Bengal Warriors won the season after defeating Dabang Delhi KC in a 34-39 encounter on October 19. Though Puneri Paltan had the best defensive unit of the season, defenders from UP Yoddha and U Mumba made the top five. Let us take a look at the top five defenders for PKL 2019.

1. Fazel Atrachali – U Mumba

U Mumba's captain 'Sultan' Fazel Atrachali tops the list with 82 tackle points to his name. Atrachali scored eight tackle points in the Eliminator 2 against Haryana Steelers, which put him at the top of the table. He has an average of 4.4 tackle points in his last five PKL 2019 games. This season, he became the fastest player to complete 300 tackle points.

2. Sumit – UP Yoddha

Sumit follows Atrachali with 77 tackle points. The young defender debuted this season and impressed everyone with his defence skills as he surpassed even Nitesh Kumar this season. The player had seven High 5s, the highest of PKL 2019.

3. Nitesh Kumar – UP Yoddha

Nitesh Kumar is ranked third with 75 points. In PKL season 6, Nitesh Kumar had a tackle strike rate of 64.93. He has a total of 67 successful tackles in PKL 2019, with an average for five tackle points in his last five PKL 2019 matches.

4. Sandeep Kumar Dhull – Jaipur Pink Panthers 

Sandeep Kumar Dhull is ranked fourth on this list. The left corner defender scored 73 tackle points this PKL season. As Jaipur Pink Panthers did not qualify for the PKL 2019 playoffs, Dhull remained in the fourth position.

5. Baldev Singh – Bengal Warriors 

Baldev Singh's 66 tackle points were crucial for Bengal to reach the finals. He had six High 5s, the second-highest this PKL season. Though he has an average of 2.2 tackle points for his last five matches, Baldev remained his team's most successful defender.
