ASIAN GAMES 2018, DAY FOUR, LIVE UPDATES: Ankita Raina advances to semi-finals as another Bronze assured for India

The first three days of Asian Games 2018 has been successful for India, with a total of 10 medals won

Update at 7:10 PM: India adds five medals to their tally at the end of Day 4 of the Asian Games. Rahi Sarnobat claimed gold in a thrilling Women's 25m Pistol event before India's Wushu contingent returning home with four bronze medals.

Update at 7:00 PM: Indian men's Volleyball team loses 3-0 to Qatar in its Pool F game.

Update at 6:45 PM: India finished seventh in the women's Artistic Gymnastics final.

Update at 6:43 PM: Fourth bronze in Wushu! Narender Garewal brings home the bronze medal after losing his semifinal bout in the Sanda 65kg category.

Update at 6:28 PM: India's  Roshibina Devi, Santosh Kumar and Surya Pratap Singh settle for bronze after losing their respective bouts at the Wushu Sanda event. 

Update at 6:11 PM: Indian men's team finishes 8th in the final with a timing of 3:35.34 in 4x400m Freestyle Relay.

Update at 5:10 PM: Mixed day for Indian Tennis! Doubles pair Sumit Nagal-Ramkumar Ramanathan bow out after a 2-1 defeat in quarter-finals.

Update at 3:44 PM: The Indian compound archery mixed team comprising of Abhishek Verma and Vennam Jyoti Surekha settle for second in the ranking round. The semifinals will be held on Sunday.

Update at 2:51 PM: Second medal assured in Tennis! Indian doubles pair Rohan Bopanna/Divij Sharan advance to the semifinals after overcoming their Chinese Taipei opponents 6-3, 5-7, 10-1.

Update at 2:25 PM: India's Rahi Sarnobat wins Gold medal in the 25m Pistol Women's event. This is India's fourth Gold medal in the Asian Games 2018.

Update at 2:21 PM: Silver Medal assured for India as RJ Sarnobat as she reaches the final two of Women's 25m Pistol event.

Update at 2:17 PM: India create record by beating Hong Kong 26-0 in their second match of Men's hockey event in Asian Games 2018.

Update at 2:06 PM: The Women's 25m Pistol finals is underway. India's RJ Sarnobat is presently leading with a score of 16 and M. Bhaker is fifth with a score of 12.

Update at 2:05 PM: India lead 23-0 with seven minutes to go.

Update at 1:57 PM: Just 10 mins to go in the match, and India are leading 19-0.

Update at 1:33 PM: GOAL! Within five minutes of the third quarter, India have scored three more goals to take a 16-0 lead.

Update at 1:13 PM: GOAL! India score their 14th goal with a second left for the end of second quarter

Update at 12:48 PM: GOAL! Hong Kong show a bit of resilience, before India grabs their sixth goals with just a minute to go in the first quarter.

Update at 12:32 PM: GOAL! India take the lead after less than a minute and a half.

Update at 12:30 PM: The first quarter begins.

Update at 12:25 PM: India's men's hockey team set to take on Hong Kong in their second match. They won the first match 17-0 against Indonesia.

Update at 12:20 PM: India's Naveen loses 4-1 to China's Meng Lingzhe in the quarter-finals of Men's Greco - Roman 130 kg event.

Update at 11:50 AM: India's Harpreet Singh wins his 1/8 finals tie in the Men's Greco - Roman 87 kg event.

Update at 11:00 AM: Ankita Raina soars into the women's singles semifinals at Asian Games by defeating Chong 6-4, 6-1 in quarters. Another bronze medal confirmed for the nation.


The first three days of Asian Games 2018 has been successful for India, with a total of 10 medals won. Three of them have been gold, with further three silvers and four bronze. At least four more bronze is confirmed for India in Wushu after great showing by both in men's and women's department.

The Day One for the Indian contingent proved to be fairly successful, with Apurvi Chandela And Ravi Kumar winning Bronze medal in 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team Final event, thus opening India's medal-tally account. It soon became much better, with wrestler Bajrang Punia winning Gold medal in the 65kg freestyle wrestling category. 

Though, there was disappointment in other results. The most notable of those was the defeat of Sushil Kumar in the 75kg category in the hands of Bahrain's Adam Batirov in the first round.

Day Two saw Lakshay Sheoran claim Silver in the Men's Trap shooting event with a score of 43 of 50 shots. Yang Kunpi of Chinese Taipei took the Gold. After that, Vinesh Phogat clinch gold after defeating Japan's Yuki Eri in the final of the 50kg freestyle event. Phoghat also becomes the first Indian woman wrestler to win a gold medal in the history of the Asian Games.

On Tuesday, 16-year-old Saurabh Chaudhary posted a record score in Men’s 10m Air Pistol en-route to winning a Gold medal. National mate Abhishek Verma won Bronze medal after finishing third. It was followed by a Silver Medal for Sanjeev Rajput in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions finals.

Another Bronze medal came hours later after India lost 0-2 to Thailand in the Sepak Takraw event. This became India's first ever medal in the sport at the Asian Games. Further, India's Divya Kakran claimed bronze after outclassing Taiwan's Chen Wenling 10-0 on technical superiority. 

The Indian women's hockey team made the day even better after demolishing Kazhastan 21-0.
