Deepak Kumar won Silver medal in the 10m Air Rifle Men's final event. India now have one Gold, one Silver and one Bronze medal in the Asian Games 2018

Update 4:58 PM: Vinesh Phoghat bags India's second gold medal at the Asian Games 2018 after defeating Japan's Irie Yuki in the women's 50kg freestyle wrestling final.

Update 4:30 PM: Indian Men's Volleyball Team secures a 27-25, 25-22, 25-19 win over Hong Kong in the group F clash.

Update 4:20 PM: India crashes out of the Men's Team badminton event after doubles pair Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy suffer a straight sets loss 14-21, 18-21 in the fourth game. The final scoreline reads Indonesia 3-1 India. 

Update 4:00 PM: Indonesia takes the first game 21-14. It remains important for Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy to win the second game to keep India's hopes alive in the Men's Badminton Team event.

Update 3:50 PM: Doubles pair Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy are set to take the court for match four of the Men's Badminton Team event. India trails Indonesia 2-1.

Update 3:47 PM: HS Pronoy claws India back into the Men's Badminton Team event after earning a hard-fought win over Jonatan Christie 15-21, 21,19,21-18. India now trails Indonesia 2-1.

Update 2:20 PM:  Heartbreak for Sakshi Malik as she loses her semi-final bout 7-8 against Kazakhstan’s Ayaulym Kassymova in the 62kg category. She will now compete for the bronze medal. 

Update at 2:14 PM: Indonesia's Kevin Sanjaya and Marcus Gideon fight back and win the second game 21-19 against Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy

Update at 2:05 PM: Sakshi Malik enters the semi-final in women’s freestyle 62kg after defeating Kazakhstan’s Ayaulym Kassymova.

Update at 1:56 PM: India's double's duo of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy win first game 21-19 against Indonesia's Kevin Sanjaya and Marcus Gideon.

Update at 1:40 PM: India's Vinesh Phogat defeats Korea’s Kim Hyung Joo 10-0 in the quarter-finals of women’s freestyle wrestling 50kg. She will take on Uzbekistan's Dauletbike Yakshimuraova in the semi-final.

Update at 1:35 PM: India's Kidambi Srikanth loses his match 21-23 22-20 21-10 against Indonesia's Anthony Ginting. 

Update at 1:26 PM: At the midway stage in the final game, Srikanth trails 4-11 against Anthony Ginting, who has won six consecutive points.

Update at 1:18 PM: Kidambi Srikanth wins the second game 22-20 against Indonesia's Anthony Ginting, and the match heads for a decider.

Update at 1:00 PM: In Men's badminton tie, Kidambi Srikanth has just lost the first game 21-23 against Indonesia's Anthony Ginting.

Update at 11:58 AM: Indian women's basketball team lost their third consecutive match at Asian Games 2018. In their recent encounter, they lost 54-104 to Korea. They are now bottom of the group, which is led by Taipei.

Update at 11:50 AM: More good news for India in wrestling as Vinesh Phogat enters the quarter-finals after defeating China’s Sun Yanan 8-2.

Update at 11:25 AM: India's Apurvi Chandela was eliminated from 10m Air Rifle Women event, despite having been at third spot after the first stage. 

Update at 11:10 AM: Indian women's badminton team lose 1-3 to Japan. PV Sindhu won the first match for India, defeating Akane Yamaguchi 21-18 21-19. Though Japan leveled the series after winning the second match, with Hirota Sayaka and Yuki Fukushima defeating Sikki Reddy and Arathi Sara.

Next up to go was Saina Nehwal. She put up a tough fight against World No.8 Nozomi Okuhara, before going down 11-21, 26-24, 16-21. And India's exit was confirmed when doubles duo of Sindhu and Ashwini Ponnappa lost to 13-21, 12-21 to Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahasi.

Update at 9:40 AM: Deepak Kumar wins Silver medal in the 10m Air Rifle Men's final event. India now have one Gold, one Silver and one Bronze medal in the Asian Games 2018. 


The Day One for the Indian contingent proved to be fairly successful, with Apurvi Chandela And Ravi Kumar winning Bronze medal in 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team Final event, thus opening India's medal-tally account. It soon became much better, with wrestler Bajrang Punia winning Gold medal in the 65kg freestyle wrestling category. 

Though, there was disappointment in other results. The most notable of those was the defeat of Sushil Kumar in the 75kg category in the hands of Bahrain's Adam Batirov in the first round.

The men's badminton team of India beat Maldives 3-0. On Day Two, the women's badminton team of India will have a tough contest against Japan, with all eyes on PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal.

India had opened it's medal-tally account in the Asian Games 2018, with rifler's Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar winning Bronze in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team Final event. The duo scored 429.9 in the finale, meaning they finished third and earned their country a medal on the opening day of the event. The Gold medal went to Chinese Taipei, whose rifler's scored 432.4. whereas Silver went to China, whose rifler's posted a score of 431.3.

The two held the second spot for most periods, before falling to third after their 34th shot, with a score of 349. Though on 38 shots, they had managed to tie with China. But after a medal was confirmed, they failed to clear the round, and had to settle for bronze.
