Drivers preview Australia SailGP as eight teams hit the water in Sydney Harbour in practice sessions ahead of the seventh event of the season.

Defending champions Tom Slingsby and his Australia SailGP Team will be looking to claim victory on home soil: 'I just want to be at the top and compete for the title' - the Australia driver said looking ahead of the race.

Fresh off a big win in Cadiz in October, the Aussies currently top the leaderboard on 45 points, one point clear of Nathan Outteridge's Japan SailGP Team and the United States driven by Jimmy Spithill, both on 44 points.

USA Driver Spithill believes that 'Consistency is key. We want to make a podium race'.

'It's time to step up' - said the world's most successful Olympic sailor of all-time, Brit Sir Ben Ainslie, who is placed fourth. 'Of course we still can make it to the final!'

The races will take place on 17-18 December.

The season will culminate with the Grand Final in San Francisco in March 26-27, 2022.
