Co-host city Zhangjiakou seeks to boost its economy from Beijing 2022

Zhangjiakou, the co-host city of Beijing 2022 Winter Games, is rich in tourism resources and has more Great Wall sections in the country with a nickname "Great Wall Museum".

Zhangjiakou, the co-host city of Beijing 2022 Winter Games, is rich in tourism resources and has more Great Wall sections in the country with a nickname "Great Wall Museum".

Located in about 200 kilometers northwest of the Chinese Capital, this city of Hebei province will be a key venue hub in 2022 Winter Games.

It is due to host all the snow events except alpine skiing along with bobsleigh, luge and skeleton during the Games early next year.

With the around 7 month ahead of the Beijing 2022, Zhangjiakou has finished all the major construction work for all the venues and currently the major task for the local organizers is to speed up the final preparations.

Trees have been planted, new hotels and roads are under final stage of construction,  workers are busy at the building sites or on the production lines.

Winter sports related ice and snow industries and business are now the leader for the local economy which is equipped with a new engine, said Bai Jianhai, deputy director of the High and New Tech Production Zone.

According to the official, Zhangjiakou is making full effort to lay a good foundation for the local economy with ice and snow related sports, equipment manufactures as well as the services.

World famous snowmaking company TenoAlpin Group has been investing in Zhangjiakou for three years and their business is in good momentum despite the inpact of the Covid-19 pandemics.

"Actually, our business increased over the last year a lot." said Hajzeri Florian, representative of the global leader in snowmaking based in the Zhangjiakou Hi-Tech Zone.

Headquarted in Bolzanoin, Italy, the company has served six of the last eight Winter Olympics and will provide snowmaking equipment and automation systems for Beijing 2022.

Apart from the heavy equipment such as snowmakers, snow pressure machines and cableways, the Hi-tech Zone also focuses on the development of personal equipment such as ski suits, snowboards and ski shoes.

More jobs are created and more money are earned by local people, the average monthly income for a regular worker have increased 50 percent in the past two years.

The venues for the Beijing 2022 can leave big Olympic legacy in the post Olympic era, for instance, this National Ski Jumping Center, dubbed as Snow Ruyi, can host concert or even mass wedding.

In line with the "Green Olympics " initiative, Beijing organizers have claimed all the venues of the Beijing 2022 Games applying more green technologies to reduce energy consumption as well as the impact on the environment.

All the electricity supplies will be from Zhangbei Flexible DC Grid Test Demonstration Project, which generates powers from the rich resources of win and solar in Zhangjiakou area.

Using Zhangjiakou's wind, to light the lamps in every home, says as a slogan from Zhangbei Flexible DC Grid Test Demonstration Project, which runs two converter unites with a rated transmission power of 1500 MW and a maximum transmission power of 3000 MW for each unit.
