Colin Kaepernick calls out ‘scared’ NFL owners in recent interview after workout

Six years - the duration of Colin Kaepernick's NFL career. Three years - the amount of time Colin Kaepernick has spent on the sidelines, owing to his protests. Could we see a return to the NFL for Kaepernick after a turbulent three-year absence? Colin Kaepernick certainly thinks so. 

After a long, drawn-out battle with the NFL, the league finally reached a confidentiality agreement with the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, earlier this year. While the terms of the agreement were not disclosed, the NFL did organise a tryout of sorts for Kaepernick last weekend. The Charles R. Drew High School in Atlanta was the location of Kaepernick's workout. After displaying his array of skills despite a three-year absence from the NFL, Colin Kaepernick went on to make a strong statement after his workout.

Colin Kaepernick's sharp words

With a number of team scouts in attendance, Colin Kaepernick asked the scouts to tell the NFL owners to "stop being scared". Representatives from the New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans, Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions were all in attendance as the former 49ers quarterback displayed his array of skills at the Charles R Drew High School in Atlanta. Kaepernick also went on to say that he has been ready for three whole years and that the NFL owners need to stop running from the truth.

Colin Kaepernick's no show

The Charles R Drew High School in Atlanta was not, however, the venue chosen by the NFL for Kaepernick's workout. The NFL had chosen the Atlanta Falcons' facility as the venue for Colin Kaepernick's workout. However, on hearing that entry for media sources were restricted at the location, Kaepernick decided to change the venue at the last minute to the high school in Atlanta. The NFL, in turn, said that it was "disappointed" with Kaepernick's decision and also noted that 25 of the 32 teams had shown up for the workout at the original location.
