Israel Folau spoke on Tuesday about his move to the French rugby league club Catalan Dragons, who play in the Super League.

The 30-year-old has ended a seven-month spell on the sidelines, which came after he posted a homophobic message on social media.

Rugby Australia - the body that runs rugby union in the country - cancelled Folau's contract following the post and legal action followed, before the two parties reached a settlement in December 2019.

Controversy continues to follow Folau though, with Neil Hudgell - the owner of Super League side Hull KR - threatening to take legal action against Catalan Dragons if his club suffer financial losses due to negative publicity.

Other Super League club owners have subsequently backed Hudgell's stance.

Folau started his professional sports career playing rugby league for Melbourne Storm before switching to union in 2013.
