Cristiano Ronaldo or CR7 is a football player born in a small town in Portugal. He is known for his records and for his amazing fitness. However, his road to glory wasn’t an easy one. As a young boy, CR7 played for Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon. He developed his skill there but he wasn’t discovered until he faced a giant team. It was this match that got him noticed and started his goal-scoring spell. This match was between Sporting Lisbon and Premier League giants Manchester United. Facing such a high profile opposition at a young age, Ronaldo managed to impress the Premier League side while playing for Sporting Lisbon.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Career So Far

While playing against United, Ronaldo caught the attention of Sir Alex Ferguson, the manager of Manchester United. They showed interest in him and soon he was signed by the Red Devils. After joining Manchester United, he was welcomed by the fans there. He was young and all alone miles away from home. This didn’t demotivate him and he used all the time he had to practice there. His former teammate Carlos Tevez has mentioned in an interview that Ronaldo would start training before anyone else could even arrive.

Ronaldo is very competitive in nature and is absolutely disciplined about his lifestyle. While at Manchester United, he made 196 appearances and scored 84 goals in the Premier League. He was best known for his free-kicks and for his finishing skill. He gained a massive fan following while at Manchester United. He absolutely showed dedication towards the club and that helped them win the league. CR7 was loved by all and he did face some amount of criticism. However, he didn’t let that get in his way and kept working on himself. In 2009, Real Madrid showed interest in Ronaldo and signed him from Manchester United.

Ronaldo's fierce competition with Messi

While at Real Madrid, Ronaldo became an absolute legend, however, Lionel Messi was in the same league as him and was his fierce competitor. Cristiano has said that for 15 years, he and Messi have shared a competitive rivalry. He pushes Messi to be better and Messi pushes him to be better. Ronaldo became an absolute beast while at Real Madrid and it is here where he earned the tag of ‘the goal-scoring machine’ Ronaldo was scoring goals in almost every match that he played. Internationally, Ronaldo has gone on to win many accolades for his country. His most notable performance was when Portugal faced Spain during the FIFA World Cup in 2018 as he scored a thrilling hat-trick and won the game for his team. Ronaldo has been an inspiration for many young football players. His hard work and dedication have been an example for many professional players as well. Currently, Ronaldo plays for Juventus and has already won the Italian Serie A title with his side.
