Four-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome has revealed he feels he can target a fifth yellow jersey in 2020.

Froome suffered serious multiple fractures back in June, after he took his hand off his handlebars to blow his nose and was thrown against a wall, while travelling at 54 kilometres per hour, by a gust of wind.

He returned to hospital last September for surgery on his thumb, after the 34-year-old cut it with a kitchen knife and later admitted "this is not my year".

But now Froome, speaking during his first pre-season training camp in Gran Canaria, said he was recovering well and has his focus fixed on the Tour de France.

"The only appointment I've set myself is the Tour de France," said the 34 year-old.

"The prospect of going for a fifth yellow jersey is massive for me."
