Barcelona announced on Saturday that Luis Suarez has been cleared by team doctors to play when the Spanish league resumes.

The 33-year-od Uruguayan striker had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on January 12th and hasn’t played since.

The club said that he will be available for Barcelona's first match in almost three months, at Mallorca on June 13th.

Suarez may have to lead the attack without Lionel Messi, who kept on working apart from the group due to a "minor right quadriceps injury", but according to the club the Argentinian star should be able to start training with his team-mates in a few days.

Barcelona lead the league by two points over Real Madrid with 11 rounds left.

La Liga was halted in mid-March because of the COVID-19 virus.
