After a stellar Sunday, India continued its momentum at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia's Gold Coast on Monday by racking up its highest medals tally of any day thus far.

After a stellar Sunday, India continued its momentum at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia's Gold Coast on Monday by racking up its highest medals tally of any day thus far.

A total of 7 medals were bagged by Indian athletes Day 5 of CWG 2018, including three Golds, two silvers and two bronze medals.

Jitu Rai won the top prize at the Men's 10 metre air pistol with a 235.1 point Games record, while India's men's Table Tennis team followed the Women's team's lead by winning Gold in the final versus Nigeria.

There was success on the Badminton front too, as India won Gold in the mixed team event by beating Malaysia 3-1 in the final.

In weightlifting, Pardeep Singh won the silver medal in the Men's 105 kg category by lifting a total of 352 kgs, while Mehuli Ghosh emerged runner-up in the Women's 10 metre air rifle with a final points tally of 247.2.

The two bronze medals were also from the shooting events, as Om Mitharval and Apurvi Chandela gave fantastic performances in the Men's 10 metre air Pistol (214.3 points) and Women's 10 metre air rifle (225.2 points) respectively.

At the end of day 5 of 11, India has now won a total of 19 medals, of which 10 are gold, 4 are silver and 5 are bronze.

The 10 gold medals place India third in the overall tally, ahead of New Zealand and South Africa, which have 8 gold medals each and 23 and 18 overall.

Australia, with 39 Gold medals and 106 overall are comfortably ahead in the overall tally, ahead of England, which has 22 golds and 63 medals overall.
