In the light of the recent controversy that triggered after professional shooting sensation Manu Bhaker posted a series of tweets hitting out at the Haryana government for the unfulfilled promise of cash prize of Rs 2 crore for winning Gold medal at the 2018 Youth Olympics, state sports minister Anil Vij has lashed out at the 16-year-old player, demanding her apology.
Speaking in the matter, Anil Vij affirmed that he will pay the cash prize of Rs 2 crore to Manu Bhaker, attacking her for her tweets defaming the Haryana government.
"A state(Haryana) that is giving the highest prize to its players, a state that is giving the best jobs to its players, it does not suit the players to defame the image of such a state. They should confirm before going on a public domain. If I have tweeted to give them Rs 2 crore, then we will definitely give them Rs 2 crore. In fact, the notification also says so. If Anil Vij has said it then he will definitely give the money, even if I will have to collect money from the entire country. Everything that I have said will be fulfilled(Anil Vij ke muh se nikla ek ek shabd ram baand hai, jo kabhi galat nhi ho sakta). Manu Bhaker must apologize."
Speaking to news agency ANI, Manu Bhaker expressed discontent on the report that the amount of the prize money was reduced. However, later she responded to Anil Vij's tweets saying that it is a good thing that he has confirmed it is Rs 2 crore again:
Earlier, Haryana Health and Sports Minister Anil Vij took to Twitter to post a series of tweets condemning Manu Bhaker for her tweets and asked her apologize for creating a controversy.
