"It's not right" - Dodgers manager speaks out on anti-Asian attacks in US

A rise in hate crimes against Asian-Americans in the United States prompted Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts to send an email to the organisation calling out the wave of bullying and violence as "cowardice".

Roberts is the son of a Japanese mother and Black father and led the the Dodgers to the World Series title last year.

He said the five-paragraph email, which was first reported by The Athletic, wasn't prompted by one specific incident but that as an Asian-American himself he wanted to let the team to know how he felt.

"Having a mother from Okinawa, Japan. Seeing what's going on in our country, I just felt that I wanted to internally put something together for our organization, showing my support toward Asian Americans in our organization and acknowledge what's going in our country and around the world that I just don't believe is right.", Roberts wrote.

Roberts said it was former NBA star Jeremy Lin's Feb. 25th Facebook post decrying the recent anti-Asian violence that made him aware of the importance of issue.
