Joy for Iran with two gold medals at Wrestling World Championships

It was a great day for Iran at the Wrestling World Championships in Oslo on Sunday as Hassan Yazdani come out on top against David Taylor in a battle between two Olympic champions.

It was a great day for Iran at the Wrestling World Championships in Oslo on Sunday as Hassan Yazdani come out on top against David Taylor in a battle between two Olympic champions.

Yazdani, who won in Rio in 2016, was crowned the 86kg freestyle champion after beating 2020 Olympic gold medallist Taylor by six points to two in the gold medal match.

Amirhossein Zare sparked further Iranian celebrations with a 9-2 victory over three-time world champion Geno Petriashvili to take gold in the125kg freestyle category.

Iran will have four further finalists in the competition on Monday.

In other action, US wrestler Kyle Dake defeated Slovakia's Tajmuraz Salkazanov by seven points to three in the 71kg freestyle gold medal bout.
