Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash admitted there is 'sense of urgency' to get the Major League Baseball season started as his club held its first team workout since March on Tuesday.

Players, coaches and stadium workers had their temperatures taken before entering Tropicana Field and everyone was required to wear masks, but Rays players were allowed to remove their masks while on the field training.

After shutting down in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, MLB and the players continue to negotiate a start to the 2020 season with salaries one of the key sticking points.

On Tuesday, the MLB Players Association said that management's latest economic proposal was 'extremely disappointing'.

But Cash saw the start of team workouts as another step forward to getting back on the field.
