Sachin Tendulkar is known internationally for his excellent batting skills and many matchwinning performances with the willow. He is the current record holder for the highest number of runs in both Test and One Day cricket. He is also the only batsman in the history of the game to have a century of centuries. Tendulkar’s contribution to Indian cricket will be remembered forever.

What is lesser highlighted about Tendulkar is that he was handy part-time bowler as well. Whenever the team needed a wicket, the captain would invariably turn to Tendulkar for a crucial breakthrough and more often than not, he delivered with an important wicket. In one of Indian cricket's most significant away wins in Adelaide in 2003, Tendulkar chipped in with two crucial wickets in Australia's second innings. Some of the career bowling statistics are:

Sachin Tendulkar Test Statistics:

Tendulkar has played a total number of 200 matches in the Test format. He bowled 4240 balls through the matches while giving away 2492 runs. Tendulkar successfully took 46 wickets. Sachin’s economy in Tests is 3.53 and his bowling average is 54.17. His bowling strike rate is 92.17.

It is unlikely that a fan of Indian cricket will ever forget the Hero Cup semi-final of 1993. With just 6 runs to defend against South Africa, Tendulkar bowled a brilliant last over conceding only 3 runs thereby taking India into the final. In the finals, he picked up the crucial wicket of Brian Lara as India beat the West Indies to lift the trophy. Tendulkar was a champion with both bat and bowl and is etched in history as one of the greatest to have played the game.
