Scone beat Park Place in the final of the most prestigious polo tournament in the United States on Sunday (18th April) - at the U.S. Open Polo Championship - with a gripping 14-13 victory.

The result means Scone pick up their second title of the Gauntlet, after winning the USPA Gold Cup in March.

The world's best Polo player, Adolfo Cambiaso took victory playing alongside his 15-year-old son.

"The connection comes from since he was born. I never thought I would be in this position right now. 10 years ago I didn't think I was going to play the final of a U.S. Open with a 15-year-old son and win it. So I'm really happy."

The tournament is the apex of the 'Gauntlet of Polo', held during the Florida high-goal winter polo season that attracts fans and polo enthusiasts from across the United States and around the world.

This heart-pounding competition is a true survival of the fittest as the world's preeminent teams, where the most skilled athletes and finest horses come together for three months to battle head-to-head for the coveted C.V. Whitney Cup (won by Park Place - $125k prize), USPA Gold Cup (won by Scone - $125k prize) and the U.S. Open Polo Championship (won by Scone - $250k prize).

Any team who consecutively sweeps all three tournaments would stand to receive a $500,000 bonus - totalling $1 million in prize money - but with a tournament victory apiece, Sunday's final between Park Place and Scone was all about the bragging rights.
