It was a tough first day at the office for one National Football League rookie.

New York Giants first-round pick Kadarius Toney had to do some drills with a bare right foot after he was given the wrong shoe size on on his first day of rookie minicamp on Friday.

Toney eventually got the correct footwear, but asked afterwards why he kept training despite being without one shoe, the wide receiver said it was his "dog mentality".

Friday marked the opening day of NFL training camp for rookies and several top prospects were getting their first officials workouts as professionals including Philadelphia Eagles 2021 top draft choice and 2020 Heisman Trophy winning wide receiver DeVonta Smith, Ja'Marr Chase of the Bengals.

Also on the field were quarterbacks Justin Fields of the Chicago Bears and Trey Lance of the San Francisco 49ers, both of whom hope to compete for starting jobs in their first season.
