Shooting World Cup: India Bags Gold, Deepak Kumar & Apurvi Chandel win

India wins the fourth gold medal at the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Rio, Brazil with Sergeant Deepak Kumar & Apurvi winning 10M air rifle mixed team event.

India won yet another gold medal at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shooting World Cup in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil on September 2. Sergeant Deepak Kumar and Apurvi Chandela had partnered and won the fourth gold medal for India. The duo played for the 10M air rifle mixed team event at the ISSF Shooting World Cup. Apurvi and Sergeant Deepak Kumar won against China's Yang Qian and Yu Haonan to score 16-6 in the final match. The first pair to reach 16 points wins, the format that will be used in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Duo of Sergeant Deepak Kumar-Apurvi Chandela Bring India Another Gold

Sergeant Deepak Kumar and Apurvi completed the first qualifier with a combined score of 627.6, alongside 40 teams, to be eligible for the second qualifier for the top 8 teams. The pair finished at the top with a score of 419.1 points in the second qualifier where both of them got 20 individual shots bringing them the opportunity to compete for a gold medal. The Chinese pair had a total score of 418.7 placing them in second place. With the smooth finish, India has secured 9 quota places in shooting so far for the Tokyo Olympics.

India Bags Five Gold Medals in ISSF

India has won five gold medals in the ISSF Shooting World Cup Rifle/Pistol in Rio, Brazil, with four silver and two bronze medals. Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary bagged the first gold for the mixed 10M air pistol event at the Shooting World Cup with Yashaswini Deswal and Abhishek Verma winning silver. Representing India, Anjum Moudgil and Divyansh Singh Panwar won bronze against the Hungarian pair who scored a total of 418.6 finished at third place. The pair has previously won two World Cup editions at the same event. India finished smoothly at the ISSF this year reaching new heights in Shooting World Cup.
