Tokyo Governor, Yuriko Koike, acknowledged Thursday that Tokyo is discussing with the central government and organiSers a possible scaling down of the Olympic and Paralympic events.

She did not give any figures or specifics of events subject to scaling down or simplifying.

Koike said they have already started discussing, but did not give further details.

Seiko Hashimoto, Olympic minister, said Thursday that Olympic and government officials are discussing "rationalisation" of the costs that takes into consideration additional cost stemming from the postponement and measures to prevent the coronavirus, including virus testing.

The Tokyo Summer Olympics has been postponed for a year and have been rescheduled for July 23rd to August 8th 2021.
