CBI on Thursday arrested four Sports Authority of India (SAI) officials including Director SAI and two private persons during an ongoing raid, in connection with alleged corruption in the transport department in the Authority, the issue was addressed by the Union Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore
Through a minute long Twitter video, the BJP Minister shared that the investigation was initiated by them after receiving information of corruption in the Ministry to solve the issue and not merely conceal it.
Through the video, he said, "A few months ago we got the news that the Indian authorities of the sports department are engaging in corruption. We could have transferred them, but with that, the problem would not have solved, but only concealed."
"Just like the belief citizens hold in our party, we sent this to the investigating agencies and they after a few months of investigations conducted raids on Thursday and arrested some officers," he added.
The Sports Minister further stated that BJP hopes to build every Ministry corruption-free.
He said, "We hope that they take this investigation to till the end. We want to free sports of any sort of corruption, for that matter any Ministry. We are committed to making our systems transparent."
The officials arrested in the raids include Director SAI SK Shamra, Junior Accounts Officer Harinder Prasad, Supervisor Lalit Jolly, and UDC V K Sharma and private contractor Mandeep Ahuja along with his employee Yunus. According to the reports, bills of Rs 19 lakhs were pending to be approved by the SAI officials. The accused officials had been demanding a bribe if three percent to clear the files
