Sir Andrew Baron Murray, better known as Andy Murray, has slowly but steadily come back to winning ways as he registered his first ATP singles match win on European soil in the last 16 months. On Tuesday, the British tennis player beat Belgian wild card Kimmer Coppejans 6-4, 7-6 (4) at the European Open in Antwerp. This is a morale-boosting win for the three-time Grand Slam winner, having returned recently from a hip injury that kept him out for the most of 2018 and this year. So, is the old Andy Murray back?

The former World No 1 and two-time Olympic champion, Andy Murray last won a match in Europe when he defeated one of his long-time rivals, Stanislas Wawrinka at Eastbourne in July 2018. After the recent win against Coppejans, Andy Murray will have a much tougher challenge against eighth seed Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay or the Bolivian Hugo Dellien in the Round of 16 in Antwerp. Murray was made to work against the 25-year-old Belgian who grabbed a 3-1 lead early on. However, the experienced veteran won six of the next seven points to ultimately win the match. Murray has moved up to 243 in the ATP World rankings following four recent wins in China.
