ON THIS DAY: Federer wins 2009 French Open to complete career Grand Slam

On this day - 7th June - in 2009, Roger Federer won the French Open to complete a career Grand Slam.

The Swiss maestro claimed his only Roland Garros title to date by beating Robin Soderling in straight sets 6-1, 7-6(1), 6-4, sealing what was at that time a 15th Grand Slam crown.

The final saw an unidentified supporter run on to the court to try and place a hat on the head of Federer before being tackled by security.
