The fans witnessing the Laver Cup doubles event between Team Europe and Team World were in for a treat on Friday. For the first time ever, they were to witness Swiss maestro Roger Federer and Serbian star Novaj Djokovic pairing together.

The duo have won an astonishing 34 Grand Slams between them, with Federer lifting 20 of them, highest of all time, and Djokovic winning 14, third highest of all time. And together, they made sure to put a spectacle in front of the onlookers.

During the match, Djokovic hit a strong forehand which went onto hit the backside of Federer. It did not cause any injury concern to the Swiss, but for sure brought out a laugh from him.

It though, wasn't the best of the nights for both the players, as they ended up losing to Team World. The crowd were left stunned as Kevin Andersen and Jack Sock defeated Federer and Djokovic 6-7, 6-3, 10-6.

Team Europe edged out the first set, before Team World roared back strongly to win the second set. The last set was a nail-biting affair with both teams going toe-to-toe against each other. The pressure of having already lost the decider in the previous set seem to have got to Federer, after he double-faulted at 4-4. Anderson made sure to captalise on the nerves and went on the seal the set 10-6.

The doubles game was followed three singles matches earlier in the day, which were won by Team Europe. This was the only loss of the blue team on the night, as they enjoy a lead of 3-1 going into day two.

The competition which is played for the first time on US soil, will be a three-day event starting from Friday. The Laver Cup pits the six of the best ATP players from Team Europe and Team World against each other.
