WWE: The Viking Raiders win the Raw Tag Team Championship

Viking Raiders defeated Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode to win the Raw Tag Team Championship on Monday night. They were undefeated throughout in the WWE NXT.

Erik and Ivar, collectively known as 'The Viking Raiders' continued their unbeaten streak on WWE Raw on Monday night. They defeated Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode to become the Raw Tag Team Champions. Ziggler and Roode nearly pulled off the win many times, including with their Zig Zag-Spinbuster double-team finisher, but they could not keep the two raiders down for long. Erik picked up the win after the duo hit Ziggler with their Viking Experience finisher.

War Machine

Originally known as 'War Machine' from their time on the independent scene, the Viking Raiders pointed out in a post-match interview that they were the first team to win the Raw, NXT, IWGP Heavyweight and the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championships. They are known for their stint in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and Ring of Honor (ROH), where they won the IWGP Tag Team Championship and the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Outside of the Ring of Honor, they have also worked for multiple independent promotions in the United Kingdom and United States, including Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW), Revolution Pro Wrestling (RPW), Progress Wrestling (Progress) and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG). The 'War Machine' have also competed in Japan for Pro Wrestling Noah (Noah).

WWE Career

They signed with WWE in 2018 as the Viking Raiders and began performing on the NXT brand where they won the NXT Tag Team Championship once. The pair went undefeated throughout their time in NXT in 2018 and then finally won the NXT Tag Team Championships at NXT Takeover in January. Instead of dropping the titles, the two simply relinquished them when they moved to Raw in April.

The now former champions, Ziggler and Roode won the title at the WWE Clash of Champions. They had defeated Seth Rollins and Brawn Strowman in a well-contested fight. On April 15, 2019, Viking Raiders debuted on Raw as 'The Viking Experience'. They relinquished the NXT Tag Team Championships at the May 1 NXT television tapings. After relinquishing the championship, however, The Viking Raiders were challenged to one final NXT match for the titles by Street Profits. The match, however, ended in a disqualification after The Forgotten Sons attacked Ivar, followed by an ensuing brawl between the teams.
