Ex-India Star Exposes Australian Media, Gives Insights Into The Jadeja-Ishant Fight During BGT 2018

Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024: Ahead of the World Test Championship 2025 finals, that is due to be played at Lord's cricket stadium next year June, India have a gruelling Test schedule ahead of them. India play a total of ten Test matches, five of them at home ( two against Bangladesh and three against New Zealand) and five against Australia in the BGT, later this year in November. Whenever India play Australia in test matches, there is always a lot of buzz around it.

Aakash Chopra Exposes Aussie Media

Playing Australia in Australia is a different challenge altogether. Before the start of the 2018-19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Virat Kohli specifically said that no Australian team in Australia is weak. In that particular series, the Aussies were without their regular skipper Steve Smith and southpaw David Warner.

Cricket Australia had imposed a ban of 12 months on the dynamic duo following the events of the 'Sandpaper Gate'. Though India ended up winning the series by 2-1, there was something that the Australian media made a huge fuss about. During the fourth day of the Perth Test, the cameras caught Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja indulge in a verbal duel which soon got out of hands.

Now six years later, former India cricketer and now a very successful broadcaster Aakash Chopra opened up on the incident and used it as a reference to expose the Australian media and their double standards. 'Jadeja and Ishant had a spat on the 30 yard circle, the broadcasters amped up the stump mic, they handed over the clip to the media, Ricky Ponting himself said that they are making a mountain out of a mole. But as soon as Ricky went for his commentary stint, he tore into the Indian team', Chopra added.

India Eye Fifth Consecutive Series Win

As far as the last decade is concerned, India have had an upper hand over Australia. The Aussies last won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2014 and since then it has been India all the way. The Indians have inflicted four consecutive Border-Gavaskar Trophy losses on Australia (2016, 2018, 2021 and 2023) and are now eyeing their fifth series victory
