Weeks after the T20 World Cup , a shocking claim has come to the fore concerning Pakistan cricket. There are claims that Babar Azam apparently plotted the removal of Shaheen Afridi as the T20I captain. The claim has been made by a Samaa TV journalist. Revealing that Babar and Afridi had a word about T20I captaincy during the training camp at the Army base in Kakul, the journalist claims that the premier batter confessed to the pacer that he had no captaincy ambitions despite knowing he would eventually lead the side. He also admitted that a person in the management kept Shaheen in the dark about this on purpose.

State of Pakistan Cricket

Babar led the side in the T20 World Cup after Shaheen was in charge of the side for a solitary series. In the T20 WC, Pakistan could not make the knockouts as well after loss against India and USA. Following the WC debacle, a number of former cricketers backed Afridi to take up the captaincy in the T20 format. Despite all the calls to removing Babar as the T20 captain, coaches Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie have advised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to not make changes to captaincy immediately.

Looks like Pakistan cricket has gone from bad to worse as they were recently whitewashed by Bangladesh at home in a two-match Test series. Babar faced a lot of critics after his inability to get big runs in the series against Bangladesh. On the other hand, Afridi was dropped for the second Test at Rawalpindi after his poor show with the ball in the first game.

Pakistan to Host Champions Trophy

Pakistan is all set to host the Champions Trophy . Now, there is much speculation over will India travel to Pakistan for the marquee event or not.
