India vs New Zealand, 1st Test: Eyes will be on the skies when India take on New Zealand in the opening Test at M. Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru. The Test starts on October 16 and there is a high possibility of rain playing spoilsport. To be precise, the Accuweather shows there is a 100 per cent chance of rain. This surely does not happen to be good news for the fans as they would be expecting a solid contest between the two formidable sides. 

Given their current run of form, India would start hot favourites against the inaugural World Test Championship winners. NZ have not won any of their last five Test matches and hence they would be under extreme pressure. The two sides last played a Test match in Bengaluru was way back in 2012 and that game was won by India. India won it by five wickets. 

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah reclaimed his No. 1 spot in the ICC bowlers’ ranking following his stellar effort against Bangladesh test series.

India are on top of the WTC standings while New Zealand, title-winners in 2021, are in sixth position.
