If Virat Kohli is ‘once in a generation cricketer’, Shubman Gill is touted as the next big thing in Indian cricket. While it is unfair, Kohli and Gill have often been compared. Kohli is a proven customer and has delivered in all conditions around the globe, while Gill still has a lot to prove to attain that status. With a big season coming up, a clip has gone viral on social space where one can hear Kohli slam Gill. But is that video true or is it fake?

Is it a FAKE Clip?

In the clip that has gone viral, Kohli can be seen saying there's a 'big gap between showing promise and becoming a legend'. The former India captain also goes on to compare himself with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. But again, if you look at the video carefully, you will realise that the comments made seem to be lip-synced - which clearly means - it is fake.

Here is the much-talked about clip:

Is Gill The Next Big Thing in Indian Cricket?

LATEST ICC Rankings

At the latest ICC rankings, Kohli has moved up two spots to the eighth spot, while Rohit Sharma, the India captain, has dropped a spot to the sixth position as per the ICC Test Rankings released on Wednesday.

Joining Rohit and Kohli in the top 10 is young Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has moved up a spot to seventh.

Veteran England batter Joe Root maintained his place as the top ranked Test batter in the world following their success in the opening Test against Sri Lanka in Manchester.

But Root's teammate Harry Brook has made a massive jump on the back of scores of 56 and 32 during that Old Trafford contest.

The 25-year-old has risen three places to fourth overall, leaping past Pakistan's Babar Azam, Australia's Steve Smith and Rohit.

Babar has dropped a whopping six places to fall from shared third to ninth following a rare failure in the first innings of Pakistan's Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.
