Rishabh Pant has come clean about his "injury" sustained at the T20 World Cup final against South Africa being staged and was not real. Renowned for his light-hearted antics on the pitch, this disclosure has only added to his supporters' delight.

The tale initially surfaced when Indian captain Rohit Sharma told it to comedian Kapil Sharma on an episode of "The Great Indian Kapil Show". Rohit described how Pant passed for hurt, laying down and asking for care, thereby upsetting the flow of South Africa. He commended Pant for his fast thinking, which will help India at a crucial point in the game. Given the fact that it played a big role in ending Team India’s ICC trophy drought, which was since 2013.

Pant subsequently admitted to the team physio that it was all an act, kindly confirming this entertaining story at a Star Sports event. Pant's light-hearted admission has created even more attention as it emphasises that, despite overcoming major obstacles—including a December 2022 automobile accident—his sense of humour is still unaltered as he celebrates India's T20 World Cup triumph in 2024. Pant displayed his traditional approach in this most recent game, hitting great strokes including a one-handed six and showing great footwork and balance against spinners.

India won the first Test with an amazing performance, then followed up with a seven-wicket triumph in the second Test despite rain-related delays. Pant is keen to maintain his momentum in the next three-match Test series against New Zealand beginning October 17, then go to Australia in November for a vital five-match series.

Pant was instrumental in India's last Test series victory in Australia; he scored an undefeated 89 in the fourth Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, enabling India to effectively target 329, therefore winning the series 2-1. He is anticipated to perform that powerfully in the next games.
