IND vs BAN 1st Test: Rohit Sharma 's India are hosting Bangladesh in a two-match Test series. The series opener is being played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai Super Kings ' (CSK) home ground. Bangladesh had a very strong opening day, but heroic efforts from Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja turned the tides in India's favour and they capitalized on it. Come the second innings, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant registered a 167 runs partnership and in many ways batted the visitors out of the game.

Shubman Gill Leaves Virat Kohli Behind

Gujarat Titans skipper and Team India youngster Shubman Gill in many ways is seen as Virat Kohli 's successor. Gill who replaced Cheteshwar Pujara as India's number three in the Test team has found some success in the IND vs BAN 1st Test. Gill stacked up his  fifth Test ton and scored 119* from 176 deliveries. In his gritty innings, Gill hit 10 fours and 4 sixes and scored at a rate of 67.61. Gill also became the eighth youngest batter to have five Test centuries in his name as he (25 years, 13 days) and also went past Virat Kohli's record (25 years, 43 days).

Gill also went past Virat Kohli 's record of scoring the most hundreds for India in the World Test Championship (WTC). The Gujarat Titans skipper has five Test centuries to his name, whereas Virat Kohli has four.

India Fight Hard To Maintain WTC Supremacy

India played two consecutive World Test Championship (WTC) finals, one in 2021 and the other in 2023. They ended up losing the both to New Zealand and Australia and they are now gunning for their third consecutive WTC finals, that will be played at Lord's next year. India are currently at the top of the WTC points table.
