IND vs SA: Virat Kohli tries Broad's magic trick to break SA, Tony de Zorzi gets out two balls later
During South Africa's innings, Virat Kohli pulled out a Stuart Broad trick which might have helped in getting Tony de Zorzi dismissed.
Virat Kohli might not have a good time with the bat against South Africa but he did inject some magic tricks to help his side. Riding on KL Rahul's 8th Test ton, the visitors put up 245 runs on the board. The 35-year-old is playing his first competitive match since that heartbreaking loss in the World Cup final in Ahmedabad.
3 things you need to know
- India posted 245 runs in the 1st inning

Virat Kohli emulates Stuart Broad's trick
Kohli replicated a trick which former England pacer Stuart Broad used to do pretty frequently. The home side was cruising in great flow as Dean Elgar and Tony de Zorzi had managed to forge a strong partnership. In between the 27 and 28th overs Virat went straight to the stumps and switched the bails, an act Broad made famous during his playing days. Incidentally, two balls later De Zorzi edged out to a Jasprit Bumrah beauty which carried to the slip and Yashasvi Jaiswal didn't make any mistake.
Reacting to the incident Board posted on X, “With success @imVkohli.”

Kohli might have taken inspiration from Broad's antics from Ashes 2023. The fast bowler switched the bails in the second Ashes Test and Marnus Labuschagne got out in the immediate delivery.
Virat Kohli has been India's finest batsman in all formats
Virat took some time off after the gruelling ODI World Cup schedule and wasn't a part of the white ball series. He ended the World Cup as the top run scorer in the tournament as he accumulated 765 runs in 11 matches for the Men in Blue. Virat has remained India's mainstay in the batting lineup and it remains to be seen whether he extends his career till the 2027 World Cup.
