Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev has provided valuable insights into why Jasprit Bumrah is considered one of the most challenging bowlers to face in modern cricket. Bumrah's ability to consistently deliver at high speeds with such precision has made him a crucial asset for the Indian cricket team. He was a vital member of the Indian cricket team that recently won the T20 World Cup in Barbados.

Kapil Dev explains why Jasprit Bumrah is hard to play

Speaking to Cricblogger, 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev explained the nuances of Jasprit Bumrah's unique bowling style that makes him exceptionally difficult for batters to handle.

"Bumrah might be bowling at 140 km/h, but when the batter is actually facing him, it feels like nearly 150 km/h," Kapil Dev remarked. "This is because he releases the ball late, giving batters less time to adjust. As a result, his deliveries effectively feel like 150 km/h because the batters need to react quickly to handle his pace."

Kapil Dev’s analysis sheds light on the deceptive nature of Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling. The late release point reduces the reaction time for batters, making it appear as though the ball is traveling faster than it actually is. This subtle difference is enough to unsettle even the most experienced batsmen.

Jasprit Bumrah's performances in major tournaments, including the T20 World Cup, have earned him accolades and recognition as one of the best bowlers in the world. He was named the Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup 2024 and played an important role in the final to help India win.

Bumrah is currently on a well-deserved break from cricket. He has been rested for the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka. Bumrah is expected to return for the home Tests against Bangladesh. He will be crucial during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia later this year.
