Former England captain Michael Vaughan has once again stirred up social media by attempting to troll Indian cricket fans, this time using a comparison between the Test records of Virat Kohli and Joe Root. Vaughan's tweet came in the wake of Root's stellar performance in the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka, where the English batter notched up his 33rd Test century.

Michael Vaughan takes a dig at Virat Kohli

Michael Vaughan, known for his provocative tweets, didn't miss the opportunity to take a dig at Virat Kohli, one of India's most celebrated cricketers. Sharing a statistical comparison between Root and Kohli, Vaughan highlighted Root's superior number of Test centuries, implicitly suggesting that the English batter has outperformed his Indian counterpart in the longer format of the game.

The tweet quickly went viral, drawing reactions from cricket fans around the world. However, Indian fans were quick to respond, defending Kohli and pointing out that while Root may have more centuries, Kohli's contributions to cricket extend far beyond just the number of hundreds. Fans cited Kohli's consistent performances in all formats and his crucial role in India's rise as a cricketing powerhouse.

As far as the second Test match is concerned, England scored 427 runs thanks to Joe Root and Gus Atkinson's century. England batted for one and a half day before being bowled out by Sri Lanka. Asitha Fernando picked up a five-wicket haul for the visitors, while Milan Rathnayake and Lahiru Kumara took two wickets each.

After losing the first test by five wickets in Manchester last week, Sri Lanka made two changes by bringing in batter Pathum Nissanka and pace bowler Lahiru Kumara for Kusal Mendis and Vishwa Fernando.

England's only change saw Olly Stone come in for fellow fast bowler Mark Wood, who was missing with a thigh injury.

Ollie Pope, filling in as England captain again for the injured Ben Stokes, said he would have batted first if he won the toss. Sri Lanka also won the toss in Manchester.

England: Ben Duckett, Dan Lawrence, Ollie Pope (captain), Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jamie Smith, Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, Matthew Potts, Olly Stone, Shoaib Bashir.

Sri Lanka: Dimuth Karunaratne, Nishan Madushka, Pathum Nissanka, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Dhananjaya de Silva (captain), Kamindu Mendis, Milan Rathnayake, Prabath Jayasuriya, Asitha Fernando, Lahiru Kumara.
