Rahul Dravid Likely To Replace Kumar Sangakkara As Rajasthan Royals Head Coach

India's world cup winning coach Rahul Dravid is reportedly all set to replace Kumar Sangakkara as head coach of Rajasthan Royals. 

Rahul Dravid left the Indian Cricket Team coaching position after guiding them to T20 World Cup glory back in June. 

Rahul Dravid set to return to Rajasthan Royals 

Rahul Dravid has been an integral part of the Rajasthan Royals history having captained the team in 2012 and 2013 and then taking over as the mentor of the franchise for two seasons in 2014 and 2015. 

As it turns out, the world cup winning coach is all set to return to Rajasthan Royals, this time in as the franchise's head coach. Dravid will be replacing former Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara as per the report by ESPNcricinfo.

The same report further states that Vikram Rathour is in discussion to join Rahul Dravid's staff as assistant coach. 

Rahul Dravid's record as India head coach

Rahul Dravid took over as the coach of Indian Cricket Team back in 2021 after a failed T20 World Cup 2021 campaign. He took over from the home series against New Zealand and since then has been instrumental in changing India's approach in T20Is, ODI and tests.

  • Rahul Dravid's Test record as coach - Under Rahul Dravid, Team India played 24 tests in nearly 3 years and have won 14 of these encounters and lost 7. India's record in tests under Rahul Dravid is only bested by Australia.  
  • Rahul Dravid's ODI record as coach - Under Rahul Dravid, India has played 13 bilateral ODI series and won 10 of them. Under Dravid and Rohit, India won 41 out of the 56 ODI matches played. 
  • Rahul Dravid's T20I record as coach - Rahul Dravid and Rohit sharma revitalised India's approach in T20 cricket. Under Dravid, India won 56 out of the 78 T20I matches played.
