IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Months ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, there are many rumours doing the rounds. For example, there is much-speculation over Rohit Sharma - does he get retained by MI or will the Mumbai franchise release him? Just like Rohit, there is much-speculation over a few other cricketers as well. Also, there are a few franchises which are waiting for the IPL Governing Council to announce the Retention Rules. And with IPL - the cricket festival - there is bound to be various rumours floating around. So, here is a list of strong rumours that are doing the rounds.

Rohit Sharma : He is easily among the best white-ball batters of the generation, if not the best. But with Rohit in the twilight period of his career, it is interesting to see will Mumbai Indians punt again on the most successful IPL captain or not. There were reports that Rohit was unhappy after he was asked to step down as MI captain and then the franchise had a season to forget. There is a rumour that Punjab Kings could be intereted in getting Rohit onboard. But, the moot question is - will they have a budget to lure Rohit? 

KL Rahul : It was there for everyone to see what transpired between LSG captain KL Rahul and the owner. Now, it would be interesting to see if the Lucknow franchise let go of him. Without a doubt, Rahul is a top-batter, a sound wicketkeeper and a captaincy option. With Rahul bringing so much to the table, it would be extremely difficult for Lucknow to do without him. 

Rishabh Pant : This may be surprising for a few, but some days back there were some claims that Pant could be heading south to join Chennai Super Kings if the franchise does not retain MS Dhoni . This is pretty far-fetched.
