‘It Scared Me Massively’: KL Rahul Reveals One Instance Playing For Team India Left Him Petrified

KL Rahul has long been a stalwart of the Indian Cricket Team and considered to be on of the country's most talented cricketers. However, it hasn't all been smooth sailing for Rahul in his cricket career for India. 

The Lucknow Super Giants skipper and former Indian Cricket Team vice captain has come out and revealed the one instance he was petrified to represent India. 

KL Rahul on why he was scared to play for India

Back in 2019 when KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya appeared on the couch of Koffee with Karan, the star Indian cricketers created major controversy with some remarks that were deemed to be sexist. In the fallout to that interview, BCCI decided to suspend both Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul from the Indian Cricket Team and they sat out in India's tour of Australia. 

KL Rahul has now recently came out and finally addressed the Koffee with Karan controversy and the impact getting suspended from Indian Cricket Team had on him. 

KL Rahul recently made an appearance on Nikhil Kamath's YouTube channel alongside Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon and rapper Badshah. When talking about his suspension from Indian Team, KL Rahul admitted that the interview changed him as a person and he was scarred massively. 

“The interview was a different world. That changed me. Completely changed me. I was a very soft-spoken person growing up. Then I played for India and became very confident. People will know 1 has been in a room of 100 people. Now I don't because that interview scarred me massively,” said KL Rahul.

KL Rahul further said that getting suspended from the Indian team was a completely different experience and he didn't know how to handle it. 

“Getting suspended from the team. I have never been suspended in school, or punished in school. I don't know how to handle it. I did mischief in school but nothing to get me expelled from school or my parents have come,” revealed KL Rahul.

When will KL Rahul return to action for India? 

KL Rahul was dropped from Team India in the T20 World Cup 2024 but marked his return for the men in blue in their ODI series against Sri Lank. KL played in two ODIs and scored 31 runs in one and getting out for a duck in second. 

KL Rahul is expected to return for Team India when they face off against Bangladesh in the test series starting from September 19th.
