South African opener Dean Elgar has bid adieu to Test match cricket after summing up his second innings in Cape Town during the India vs South Africa 2nd Test. Elgar scored a century in the 1st Test and was instrumental in inflicting India an innings and 32-run defeat. The second Test however did not turn out to be ideal for Elgar but he has showcased the due respect after he was dismissed in the 2nd innings.

Virat Kohli bows down to Dean Elgar

After getting dismissed by Mukesh Kumar at the score of 12, Dean Elgar's final innings in Test cricket concluded. On his way back he raised his arms to express gratitude to the crowd and before that, he received acclamation from none other than Virat Kohli and the entire Team India. The entire crowd and even the members of both dressing rooms gave him a standing ovation, a congratulatory remark on a brilliant career.

Virat Kohli, who picked up the catch to complete the dismissal of Elgar, immediately made the bow-down action. Here's what transpired on the field.

Dean Elgar's career in a nutshell

Dean Elgar will go down as one of South Africa's finest-ever batsmen. He prominently played in the longest format of the game and managed to make his mark with his gritty knocks. He played a total of 85 Tests in his career and accumulated over 5000 runs. In the process, he managed to breach the three-figure mark 14 times and completed a half-century 23 times. Aside from contributing with the bat, Elgar on occasion proved to be handy with the ball as well. He took a total of 15 scalps in his career.
