East Bengal and Mohun Bagan SG Fans Reunite in Street Protest Demanding Justice for Abhaya | WATCH

Kolkata Derby rivals East Bengal and Mohun Bagan's fanbase has rallied once again in support of Abhaya as they voiced their cry for justice.

Sports always possesses the power to unite the most bitter rivals, as evidenced by the scenes on the streets of Kolkata when fans from two of the biggest Indian football clubs banded together to protest the horrific incident of alleged rape and murder of a doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Despite the cancellation of the Kolkata Derby, fans from East Bengal and Mohun Bagan SG rallied to demand justice for Abhaya. The fanbase of both clubs has re-united in the streets as their demand for justice for the victim continues.

East Bengal, Mohun Bagan Fans Reunite in the Streets of Kolkata in Support of Abhaya

After the fan clubs of Mohun Bagan SG, East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting came forward for a peaceful protest for the victim of RG Kar Hospital, the Derby rivals' fanbase has come forward yet again. Fans of both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal have come to the streets as they march together and voice their frustration over the delayed justice for the alleged rape and murder victim.

Fans of the Big Three clubs of Indian football have come together previously. After the cancellation of the Kolkata Derby in the 2024 Durand Cup because of the unrest situation in the city, the fan clubs came out for a peaceful protest of the horrific incident. But the incident turned worse after the local police started detaining the silent protestors outside the iconic Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.

AIFF Chief Kalyan Chaubey was present at the site, where he met the fans of the three clubs and joined them in solidarity with Abhaya. He expressed frustration over the cancellation of the Derby, saying that law and order had collapsed in the region.

Mohun Bagan SG Captain and India defender Subhasish Bose had also joined the protest with the fans after the cancellation of the Derby. He called out the authorities' attempts to silence the people.

In addition, Subhasish Bose expressed his feelings about the Derby's cancellation, declaring that he would have felt happier if it had gone ahead. But Bose would stand up for the RG Kar victim as that was the greater cause.
