'Most decisive player...': Man Utd legend Identifies Leading Contender for 2024 Ballon d'Or Crown

Rio Ferdinand names his favourite for the Ballon d’Or 2024

Rio Ferdinand, a former Manchester United defender, is of the opinion that Vinicius Junior, a forward for Real Madrid, is the most likely candidate for the 2024 Ballon d'Or. The 23-year-old's season with Los Blancos was noteworthy.

Despite having a difficult season due to injuries, Vinicius made significant contributions in 39 appearances by scoring 24 goals and providing 11 assists. Real Madrid achieved three titles, including their second La Liga-UEFA Champions League double in three years, as a result of his contributions.

Nevertheless, Vinicius was unable to replicate his club's success at the 2024 Copa America in the United States. Brazil was vanquished by Uruguay in the quarter-finals during his suspension, following a goalless draw that resulted in a penalty shootout. However, according to Madrid Zone, Ferdinand believes that Vinicius is the most prominent contender for the Ballon d'Or this year. Rio Ferdinand said: 

“I don’t think anyone has done anything else to suggest that they should win Ballon d’Or over Vini Jr.. He was the most decisive player & huge reason why Real won CL & La Liga. If Jude keeps scoring & England win EUROs, he’s definitely going to be in mix too.”

According to Ferdinand, Jude Bellingham is one of the best candidates for the Ballon d'Or. The England national team, featuring the 21-year-old midfielder, will take on Spain on Sunday in the UEFA Euro 2024 final. It is important to know that Bellingham has had a decent performance in the UEFA Euro so far and is going to play a huge role for England in the final. On the other hand, Vinicius Jr struggled in the Brazil jersey in the Copa America after they failed to make an impact in the South American tournament.
