After successfully opening India's account on the medals' tally on Day 2, Manu Bhaker has scripted further history. On Day 4, the pair of Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh defeated South Korea in the Bronze Medal match and claimed the medal for India at the Paris Olympics. With that, India now have two medals on display on the medal's tally. Both have been Bronze. Subsequently, Manu Bhaker has become the first Indian to win two medals in a single Olympic event.
Manu Bhaker was composure personified while Sarabjot Singh played an ideal foil as the pair won the 10m air pistol mixed team bronze defeating South Korea to script history at the Olympics here on Tuesday. The Indian pair defeated the Koreans 16-10 to earn the country its second medal at the quadrennial showpiece, and in the process made Bhaker the first Indian post independence to bag two medals in a single edition of the Games. She had earlier bagged the bronze medal in the women's 10m air pistol event at the same venue. British-Indian athlete Norman Pritchard had won two silver medals in 200m sprint and 200m hurdles at the 1900 Olympics but that achievement had come in the pre-Independence era.
After attaining Bronze Medal in the Women's 10m Air Pistol event, Manu Bhaker has come back to win another medal for India at the Paris Olympics. This time she held a podium finish with Sarabjot Singh. The dup won the Bonze Medal at the 10m Air Pistol mixed event. The medal turned out to be historic for Manu Bhaker as she became the first Indian to win two medals at a single Olympic event. However, she is not yet done in the Paris Olympics. She is scheduled to feature in the 25m Pistol event and could attain more glory for India.
